Audi E Tron Partnership
Audi’s first fully electric vehicle - the e-tron SUV, expected to cost around $140,000 here in Australia, has selected Bridgestone as the original equipment.
Audi’s e-tron SUV is said to offer spectacular acceleration, in-vehicle comfort and silence. It is driven by two electric engines, one attached to the front, the other to the rear axle. From standstill, it can reach a speed of 100km/h in less than 6 seconds, which means that the e-tron requires tyres that provide excellent contact with the road to ensure superb handling and braking performance.

Audi have successfully produced a near-silent motor in the e-tron, which has been achieved, in part, through the use of sound proofing, dual paned windows and special seals to minimise cabin noise. Bridgestone’s B-Silent technology was the perfect compliment to this.
Audi and Bridgestone collaborated to create a list of required characteristics to highlight the specifications of the new model. Audi wanted the e-tron to reflect their reputation for luxury and comfort. The e-tron boasts fast acceleration, high comfort, very low noise and high levels of safety - all whilst maintaining Audi’s high level of performance.
Enter Bridgestone’s B-Silent technology as a means for further minimising in-vehicle noise. B-Silent technology is achieved through filling the hollow spaces within a tyre with sound-absorbing materials to reduce echo, while the tyre walls and structure are reinforced to minimise vibration and reverberation from the movement of the tyres on the road surface.
