The New Bridgestone Potenza Sport
On October 5th, 2021, Bridgestone Australia released their newest lineup to their flagship performance tyre series, the Potenza Sport.
Designed as the successor to the Bridgestone S007A, the new Potenza Sport is optimised for high speed stability, braking performance, and wet handling.
The new Potenza Sport has been available internationally for a few months, and is already the winner of the Autobild Sportscars’ 2021 Sports Tyre Test from earlier this year.
Bridgestone Australia says the Potenza Sport will be a popular tyre in the Australian automotive enthusiast community because of the handling improvements and wide variety of sizes available.
The new Potenza Sport is currently available in 64 sizes, with diameters from 17 through to 22 inch. Extra sizes have been added to cater to performance SUVs as well as passenger vehicles.
The tyre range has been expanded to cover more popular makes and models such as VW Golf R, Subaru WRX, BWM M3 and M4, Audi RS3, the new Toyota Supra, Porsche 911, Honda Civic Type R and more.
The tyre compound used in the New Potenza Sport involves some of the latest technology that Bridgestone says will improve performance in the wet, without losing dry weather handling characteristics.
The tyre tread features 3D sipes that help lock the tread blocks together, which aids cornering stability as well as steering responsiveness and abrasion resistance.
The new Potenza Sport has been tested against competitors at Bridgestones’ own proving grounds and was found to meet all the design requirements for wet cornering and handling, as well as high speed stability.
In the wet, Potenza Sport shines with significantly better wet corning and wet handling than the benchmark and competition, as well as advantages in wet braking and high-speed stability.
